More than 5 lac people waiting for Aadhaar in Gwalior

More than 5 lac people are finding themselves in trouble for not receiving Aadhar card even after a long wait of time in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. No official is present there to listen to their grievances. At the other side camps are being setup at schools for direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme where not only Aadhaar enrollment but bank accounts are also being opened up. Interests among people regarding Aadhar card is rising up while at the other end the speed of card preparation is getting slower. More than 11.5 lac people in the district have enrolled for Aadhaar out of which close to 8 lac Aadhaar numbers have been generated so far while more than 5 lac are still waiting for delivery of their Aadhar card. Enrollment camps have already started from July 5 in schools which will operate till September 8. About 1.2 lac students of the district belonging to SC, ST and OBC category will be provided scholarship through DBT scheme by October 31.
Aadhar cards of middle, high school and senior secondary studying students under School Education Department will be made in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. For this purpose enrollment camps will also be setup at schools of remote areas. This information was given by District Education Officer (DEO) CM Upadhyay during a meeting with principals. Those schools whose students have not got Aadhaar card will have to send proposals to DEO and enrollment camps will be setup after 15th July in the schools.
Government in Dumka, Jharkhand will pay the scholarship amounts to students from class 7th to 10th through Aadhaar based accounts via online transaction. For this a workshop was organized by Education Department at Government Girls Plus 2 College on Thursday. Representatives of various banks present at the workshop were informed that before paying the scholarship amount, Aadhar card of the student will be made and with this Aadhaar number bank account of the student will be opened. About 78% of the district population has been issued Aadhaar number so far.
People of Jammu & Kashmir might have to wait for few more years to avail the benefits of Aadhaar based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme because absence of Aadhaar in the state could make its inclusion impossible. Low percentage of Aadhaar enrollment and unavailability of wide network of banking services in the state are the two main causes which will become hindrances in the launch of scheme.
